The Diesel Technology field is expected to increase at a rate of 3 to 6 percent to keep up with emissions and environmental standards. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition for Diesel Service Technicians and Mechanics, opportunities should be very good for people who complete formal training in diesel mechanics; applicants without formal training will face competition for jobs.*
